Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit

Activities relating to wildlife rehabilitation may require a permit. There are various types of permits available for individuals and body corporates.

Individual Wildlife Rehabilitators

The first step to becoming a wildlife rehabilitator is to complete the following form:

If you are a wildlife rehabilitator and you want to apply for a Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit for tier 2 wildlife or above, you must meet the criteria set out in the Best Practice Guidelines for Wildlife Rehabilitation and complete this application and tier review form:

If you have an expired wildlife rehabilitation permit and you would like to reapply for a new permit, please use the following form:

Other rehabilitation activities for individuals

If you would like to use your property as a release site for wildlife, please use the following form. If approved, this permit allows a permitted wildlife rehabilitators transfer wildlife to your possession for the purpose of soft release;

Wildlife Display Permit

If you are a wildlife rehabilitator and you would like to display wildlife that are in your care for the purpose of educating members of public about wildlife rehabilitation, please use the following form.

Please note: no payment is required for wildlife rehabilitators.

Body Corporates - Direction

If you are a central facility rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife you will require a Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit for a Body Corporate. 'Direction' facilities are permitted to provide onsite and offsite direction and supervision to staff working under the body corporate.

Body Corporates - Supervision (Onsite only)

If you are a central facility rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife you will require a Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit for a Body Corporate. 'Supervision' facilities are permitted to provide onsite supervision to staff working under the body corporate.
