Hunting licence holders must submit an annual ‘take return’. This helps the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas):
A take return:
is due by 30 November each year to support reporting purposes
captures information including species, number taken, and approximate location (for select species)
is required even if your take was zero
is not required for wallaby
is a legal requirement under Regulation 90 of the Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulations 2021
Licence holders that do not submit a take return for a current or previously held hunting licence, will not be able to purchase a new hunting licence.
Please note, the take return applies only to animals taken under your recreational hunting licence – do not include animals taken under a permit e.g. Property Protection Permit, Special Purposes Wildlife Permit.
