The NRE Tas Technical Assessment Panel
(TAP) has assessed Yellow-crowned amazon (Amazona ochrocephala) as being not
dangerous to humans, having a moderate establishment risk and a high
consequence of establishment (risk that an established population would cause
harm) if they established in Tasmania. Consequently, the TAP assessment
concluded that the risk posed by importing Yellow-crowned amazon into Tasmania is serious and therefore approval to import and
keep this species is only granted to Wildlife Exhibition Licence holders
approved to keep serious threat species.
